Office of the Chancellor

Welcome to North Carolina State University.

From my first experience on campus as an assistant professor of engineering mechanics in 1968 until today, I have held a special affection for NC State.  It is an honor to guide this university as we move into its next chapter.  As chancellor of NC State, I am committed to moving the work of this university forward and promoting an understanding and appreciation for the many ways this university serves the people of North Carolina.  I will do my absolute best to provide the guidance that this university deserves and that will make people proud of NC State.

The unique land-grant mission of NC State has led to our playing a pivotal role in the advancement of North Carolina and its citizens through the years.  It is a place of innovative teaching, where students are given a relevant education that prepares them for careers with real impact.  It is a place of innovative research, where outstanding faculty are discovering and exploring solutions that are shaping the way we deal with our problems.  It is a place of statewide extension, where the work of the university reaches beyond campus boundaries to all 100 counties in North Carolina.  The research and educational programs here are at the point of where the new economy will be, and the partnerships are solidly in place to disperse the knowledge of those programs outward.  The work of this university has been and always will be vitally important to this state and nation.

This is, indeed, an excellent place to be.  As you explore NC State and its people, listen to the stories unfolding here and you will hear the future.
