After NC State

College of Agriculture and Life Sciences student has her heart set on getting her medical degree.

Graduating from college is one of the biggest achievements of your life. Once you have your degree, what's next? A challenging career? An advanced degree? Law or medical school? Whatever decision you make, the degree you earn from NC State University will prepare you for what's next-your life.

NC State degrees get jobs

The degree you earn at NC State is valuable-and not just to you and your family. Your degree is also valuable to employers. It tells them that you are undoubtedly intelligent and driven, but that you're a big-picture thinker, eager to make a difference in the world around you.

Employers also know you leave NC State prepared to hit the ground running, ready to contribute to their goals. But don't take our word for it. Look to the success of our recent graduates. They are proof of the value of an NC State degree. Fifty-nine percent of 2006 graduates landed jobs related to their majors either before or upon graduation! Another 28 percent of grads found employment related to their major within six months. The bottom line? NC State degrees open doors.

Thousands of opportunities to interview with employers

There's no need to wait until your final year to prepare for post-graduate success. The University Career Center (UCC) hosts career fairs throughout the academic year, giving you the opportunity to speak with employer representatives right on campus. (Many of the representatives are NC State alumni who have hiring authority!)

During the 2006-07 academic year, more than 330 employers attended career fairs at NC State. Employers conducted interviews with 3,181 undergraduates, 936 graduate students, and 129 doctorate students. That's 4,246 opportunities to interview with potential employers without ever leaving campus!

Some of the career fairs sponsored by the UCC during the 2006-07 academic year included:

  • College of Management Career Fair - 82 employers and 950 students attended
  • Colleges of Management and Humanities and Social Sciences Career Fair - 88 employers and 917 students attended
  • College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Career Fair - 19 employers and 175 students attended
  • Minority Career Fair - 75 companies attended
  • College of Agriculture and Life Sciences - 100 companies attended

Several career fairs are already scheduled for the 2007-08 academic year. Mark your calendars now!
