Visit NC State

Prospective students and their families go through NC State's free-expression tunnel.
One of the best ways to get to know our university is to visit our campus. There’s really no other way to experience the many academic, social, cultural and extracurricular opportunities that the university offers. Raleigh, home to NC State University and the state’s capital is also a must-see. Explore the city for yourself and find out why it’s ranked repeatedly as one of the nation's best places to live and work.

Visiting NC State University

NC State welcomes prospective students and their families for visits. We conduct information sessions throughout the year where you can hear everything you need to know about the application process, admissions requirements and academics. University Ambassadors, who are NC State students themselves, can give you the real deal on what it's like to be a student at NC State during a campus walking tour that starts at the Talley Student Center. When the tour ends, feel free to return to points of interest on campus for a more in-depth look.

Special group tours and information sessions may be available to qualifying college-age groups. Learn more about special group visitation and how to request an information session and tour on the group visit web page. All other visitors are welcome to stop by the Joyner Visitor Center for self-guided tour information.

Get the real deal

If you already know what field of study or specific program you are interested in, while you are here, attend a college-specific information session, meet current students and faculty and even attend a class. Some of our colleges even offer special "Make a Date with State" sessions so you can see what it's really like to attend NC State as you shadow current students and attend class.
