Cosgrove is a graduating senior in electrical engineering and computer engineering, and he is in his second semester on staff. “In all the chaotic mess that are the Student Media offices, we still produce some of the best publications in the country, and I’m proud to work for them,” John Cosgrove said.

2007 WindhoverN.C. State’s student yearboook, the Agromeck, and its literary and arts magazine, Windhover, will be recognized with a Crown Award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association this coming spring. “Our students continue to produce some of the finest publications in the country, even at a school without a journalism degree,” said Bradley Wilson, adviser to both media. “They work hard every day to document the activities of some 30,000 students and additional faculty and staff as well as to give them an outlet for creativity.” CLICK HERE for more information

’06 Yearbook named finalist for Pacemaker award

Agromeck 2007The North Carolina State University yearbook staff has been recognized by Taylor Publishing with an Award of Excellence honoring its yearbook design and coverage. The NCSU yearbook, the Agromeck, is featured in the 2007 Yearbook Yearbook. The yearbook has also been nominated for a national Pacemaker Award from the Associated Collegiate Press, one of the top two national awards for student media.

Only 13 schools were nominated nationwide for the Pacemaker including perennial winners, the Royal Purple from Kansas State University, the Arbutus from Indiana University and the Tower from Northwest Missouri State University. The Agromeck was first nominated, and received, a Pacemaker for the 2004 edition, the publication’s first national award. In that year, 14 schools were nominated and five received a Pacemaker.

Agromeck yearbook staff members win national awards

Taylor Templeton Sports Action PhotographThe staff of the Agromeck yearbook received four national Gold Circle Awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. The staff received a First Place Certificate in Yearbook Theme and Concept. Josh Bassett and Nathan Bullen received a First Place Certificate in Organization or Greek Spread. Taylor Templeton received a Certificate of Merit for Yearbook Sports Action Photograph. And Austin Johnson received a Second Place Certificate for Sports Reporting.

Yearbook wins Pacemaker

Agromeck 2004KANSAS CITY — The 2004 edition of the Agromeck yearbook won a Pacemaker award from the Associated Collegiate Press. This was the first Pacemaker for the Agromeck.

The Associated Collegiate Press selected the 2004 edition of N.C. State’s literary magazine, the Windhover, from 57 entries as one of five winners in the 2004 Magazine Pacemaker competition. This edition, affectionately known as “magazine in a box,” was edited by Shawna Jones and designed by Will Hall. The Windhover has received the award nine other times, including for the 2003 edition.

Agromeck wins Silver Crown; individuals recognized nationally

N.C. State’s yearbook, the Agromeck, received a Silver Crown award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association at the association’s national convention in New York City March 19.

Jaime Trivette edited the 2004 edition of the 102nd edition of the Agromeck, funded through advertising sales and student fee monies. Other senior staff members includedAustin Dowd, photography editor; Josh Bassett, designer; Lucy Tatum Austin, student life editor; and Erik Snyder, academics editor. Bradley Wilson is the yearbook staff adviser.
