Carol Schroeder, M.Ed. -- Director
Carol Schroeder serves students in the College of Natural Resources. Previously she worked with students in the Colleges of Design, Education, Engineering, and Management, as the Career Center liaison. In addition, she has organized and facilitated Career Direction workshops for students across the University. Carol earned her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Literature at Duke University and a Master of Education in Educational Administration at NC State.
Woody Catoe, Ed.D. -- Assistant Director
Dr. Woody Catoe serves students in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. He also serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Counselor Education at NC State. Prior to joining the University Career Center, Woody was in a full-time private practice as a professional counselor and worked as a corporate career consultant with a major executive consulting firm. Additional professional roles have included serving as director of student affairs, a community college instructor, and an associate minister in pastoral counseling. He received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Carson-Newman College, a Master of Divinity in Theology and Counseling from Southeastern Seminary, and a Doctor of Education in Counselor Education from NC State. Woody is also a NC Licensed Professional Counselor.
Beverly Marchi, M.A. -- Assistant Director
Beverly Marchi serves students in the College of Engineering (BAE, CCEE, JEM, MAE, MSE). She also has experience working with students in the Colleges of Design and Humanities and Social Sciences and started her career at NC State as the first alumni career counselor. Prior to coming to campus, Beverly was a recruiter at Credit Suisse. She received a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Boston College.
D.R. Ingram, M.S. -- Assistant Director
D.R. Ingram serves students in the College of Education, College of Engineering (ChE, IE) and the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Prior to coming to NC State, D.R. was Assistant Director of the Career Planning and Placement Office at Miami University (Ohio), a Student Services Specialist for INROADS, and a High School History Teacher with Wake County Public Schools. He received a Bachelor of Arts in History (Teacher Education Option) from NC State and a Master of Science in College Student Personnel Services from Miami University.
Leslie Rand-Pickett, M.Ed. -- Assistant Director
Leslie Rand-Pickett serves students in the College of Engineering (CSC, ECE, IMSE, NE, OR). Prior to coming to NC State, Leslie was a Career Counselor at UNC Wilmington. She has received an Associate degree from Peace College, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UNC Chapel Hill, and a Master of Education in Counselor Education from NC State. Leslie is a National Certified Counselor.
Sara Concini, M.S. -- Counselor
Sara Concini serves students in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. She brings to NC State work experience in a corporate recruiting environment, through Pharmaceutical Product Development, Inc (PPD), and also experience as the Coordinator of Student Activities at Union College. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Counseling and Higher Education, both from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Sara is a National Certified Counselor and NC Licensed Professional Counselor.
Tameka Whitaker, M.S. -- Career and Academic Adviser
Tameka Whitaker serves students in the College of Design. Prior to working in the College of Design, she held various positions in the Registration and Records Office at NC State and has worked on the campuses of UNC Greensboro and NC Central University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Master of Science in Adult Education from North Carolina A&T State University.
Leslie Bowman, M.A. -- Counselor
Leslie Bowman serves students in the College of Engineering (BME) and coordinates the externship program. Prior to coming to NC State, she was a Human Resource Manager at a medical device company and worked as an Account Executive for a finance firm. Leslie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from NC State, a Masters of Arts in Healthcare Administration from UNC Chapel Hill and a Masters of Arts in Counseling from Seton Hall University.
Janet Rakes, PhD – Career Coach
Janet Rakes serves students in the College of Management. Previously she worked as a Middle Grades Academy Coordinator in the College of Education at NC State University, a Career Counselor in the Career Services Center at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a Language Arts and Social Studies teacher in the Virginia and North Carolina Public School Systems. Janet earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Psychology, her Master of Arts and Master of Science degrees in Education and Counseling, and her PhD in Curriculum and Teaching from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
