The N.C. Fresh Produce Safety Task Force will host representatives from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2009, in Raleigh, for a Small Farm Produce Safety Listening Session. Several dozen small farm produce growers are expected to participate in this meeting to share concerns about produce safety regulations.
Mike Taylor, senior advisor to the commissioner of the FDA; Joe Reardon, former Food & Drug director for the N.C. Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, and now FDA state liaison; and others involved with produce safety regulations will be present to hear from N.C. produce growers.
The proceedings which will be streamed live online courtesy of the NCDA&CS at www.ncagr.gov/fda/. A recording of the session will be posted on www.ncfreshproducesafety.org for later viewing.
