Regional Pre-plant Meetings

Regional meetings will be held throughout August for N.C. strawberry growers to hear from N.C. strawberry specialists about pre-plant considerations such as methyl bromide alternatives; new research including row cover management and high tunnel production; and disease and insect management strategies. Pre-plant meetings are organized by Cooperative Extension agents.

Southeast Strawberry Expo 2011

The SE Strawberry Expo heads to the Raleigh-Durham area in 2011. The Expo traditionally offers workshops, a farm tour, a trade show and educational sessions. Current and prospective strawberry producers throughout the Southeast will find sessions oriented towards their conditions and needs, and many opportunities for interaction with other growers.

North American Strawberry Symposium 2011

The theme of the seventh North American Strawberry Symposium is “Sustaining Strawberry Production through Science.” The symposium will be held February 8-11, 2011 in Tampa, FL, at the Doubletree Hotel, Tampa Westshore.

Berry Health Benefits Symposium 2011

The 2011 Berry Health Benefits Symposium is the only event solely dedicated to bringing together worldwide researchers in the field of berries and human health. Topics to be showcased include Cancer, Metabolism, Gut Health, Heart Health, Brain Aging and Compositional Chemistry and Biological Effects.

2010 Southeast Vegetable & Fruit Expo

The 25th Annual Southeast Vegetable & Fruit Expo, in cooperation with the South Carolina Fruit, Vegetable and Specialty Crop Association, will take place November 29 – December 1, 2010 in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Strawberry High Tunnel Workshop

Join strawberry experts from N.C. State University and N.C. Cooperative Extension for a Strawberry High Tunnel Workshop at the Piedmont Research Station in Salisbury, N.C. on Wednesday, November 17. Highlights include updates on strawberry growing research, the N.C. State strawberry breeding program, predatory mites and a taste test competition between ‘Albion’ strawberries from the Piedmont and the mountains.

2010 Field Days Calendar

N.C. State University sponsors field days for agricultural commodities ranging from apples and cotton to tomatoes and strawberries. Field day event information will be listed as it becomes available throughout the year.

N.C. Strawberry Festival 2010

This year marks the 85th edition of the N.C. Strawberry Festival. Bring the family and watch the parade; enjoy the amusement rides, live music and a wide variety of vendors; experience the community and local culture; and sample the juicy, sweet strawberries for which North Carolina is famous.
