FROM THE DIRECTOR
Welcome to the Director's Page! Excitement continues building for the Environmental Sciences Academic Program. Since the new Environmental Science courses and revised degree requirements rolled out about two years ago, the responses of faculty members and students exceeded all expectations. There are now more than 100 students enrolled in the Environmental Sciences major, another 100 students in the Environmental Science minor, and more than 1,500 students in the Environmental Science courses.
The missions of the Environmental Sciences Academic Programs are to:
1. Be the home for students seeking focused studies in the broad array of environmental science focal areas;
2. Increase the literacy of the student body in the areas of energy, environment, and sustainability.
The Environmental Sciences Academic Program is attracting so much attention because it is defining a new environmental agenda that includes themes of energy, environment, and sustainability. In addition, the Program has academic content relevant to the personal and professional lives of all students. The new environmental agenda will engage people from all walks of life in rebuilding the way we live, work, and play.
Come join us, and have a hand in rethinking how you can make a difference in advancing sustainability with a new, recast environmental agenda. The Director's Page will be a place to check for new ideas about how you can help shape the wave of change underway in North Carolina, and beyond.
