Dr. Jeannette Moore serves as Alumni Distinguished Professor and Undergraduate Teaching and Advising Coordinator for the Department of Animal Science, which has over 650 undergraduate students. In addition, she coordinates the Livestock aspect of the Livestock and Poultry Management degree (Associate of Applied Science) in the Ag Institute. She currently teaches Intro to Animal Science (ANS 150), Small Ruminant Management (ANS 408), and Animal Feeds and Nutrition (PO 102, formerly ANS 012). She holds a 10% Extension appointment, and her area of expertise is herbivore nutrition.
Dr. Moore chairs the departmental Undergraduate Education Committee and is a member of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Courses and Curricula Committee. She serves on the Faculty Senate Academic Policy Committee, and was the Faculty Senate rep to the Administrative Board of the Graduate School and the university Evaluation of Teaching Committee in 2010/2011. She has chaired the University Courses and Curricula Committee as well as the CALS Courses and Curricula Committee, and served one year on the Council on Undergraduate Education. She is currently (2011/2012) President of NACTA (North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture).
Dr. Moore's professional accomplishments include receiving the NACTA Teacher Fellow Award (2001), being inducted into the Academy of Outstanding Teachers at N.C. State University (2001), and receiving the CALS Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award in 1998. She was honored to receive the Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor award in 2008 and the NACTA Southern Region Outstanding Teacher Award in 2011.
