FACULTY SENATE
Resolution of Commendation
Whereas: James A. "Jim" Graham, Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services of the State of North Carolina for four decades, has distinguished himself in his service to his state and his Alma Mater, NC State University, and
Whereas: Commissioner Jim Grahams service has been recognized time and again by his peers among the fifty states of the United States of America for his extraordinary commitment and labor in bringing North Carolina to rank third nationally in its heterogeneity of crop and animal agriculture, all the while "loving his job", and
Whereas: Commissioner Jim Graham has been instrumental in showing the people of this Nation that North Carolina produce is among the best in the world, that "Goodness grows in North Carolina", and
Whereas: Commissioner Jim Graham has created a popular and self-supporting annual State Fair, nationally outstanding, for the exhibition of that produce and more, and has fostered the development of farmers markets to enhance the sale of high quality agricultural products and crafts, and
Whereas: Commissioner Jim Graham has been a leader in implementing programs for the prevention and eradication of animal diseases, virtually saving the swine industry in North Carolina and preserving the poultry industry, and
Whereas: Commissioner Jim Graham has supported the creation of a diverse system of fifteen research stations where much of the research has been conducted by NC State University faculty, and
Whereas: Commissioner Jim Grahams lifetime of service toward the diversification of North Carolina agriculture has made agribusiness a bulwark of North Carolinas economy, therefore be it
Resolved: That the faculty of NC State University commends Commissioner Jim Graham on his extraordinary contributions to the agricultural success of our state and on his contributions to agriculture and agribusiness nationally and internationally, and be it further
Resolved: That the faculty of NC State University offers its deep appreciation and best wishes to Commissioner Jim Graham as he continues his commitment to service to our state and university as Executive-in-Residence.
