FACULTY SENATE
Resolution on Lake Raleigh Wood
Whereas: the natural area on the Centennial Campus of North Carolina State University now referred to as Lake Raleigh Woods (LRW) exhibits ecological attributes that students and faculty have deemed important to the study of natural resources on the only remaining relatively undisturbed sites on campus, and
Whereas: North Carolina State University faculty, administration-and students are developing a proposal that could make LRW an integral part of the educational research and outreach missions of North Carolina State University, and
Whereas: construction of buildings on or too close to LRW could unnecessarily threaten integrity of the observed ecological attributes and the continued utility of the site for scholarly investigation and teaching, therefore be it
Resolved: that the Faculty Senate is against any irrevocable commitment of resources on the Centennial Campus at any time now or in the future that could impinge on future viability of the Lake Raleigh Woods natural area.
