Arborfest will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

For plant lovers, master gardeners and budding horticulturalists alike, the garden section of a home improvement store just won't do. Fortunately, there's the JC Raulston Arboretum's Arborfest this Saturday.

The Arboretum's public field day runs from from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. September 15, and provides an opportunity to learn about new plants, rain gardens, composting, turf, tree care and planting, and other timely garden topics from NC State faculty, Wake County Master Gardeners and other horticultural professionals.

Sponsored by the JCRA, the Department of Horticultural Science at NC State University and the Wake County Extension Service, Arborfest offers raffles, youth activities, informational booths, plant and craft vendors, as well as the chance to see and buy rare and unusual plants.

Arborfest is free to attend and parking is available at the Arboretum, along Beryl Road and at the Brickhaven Building.

The JC Raulston Arboretum is a nationally acclaimed garden with one of the largest and most diverse collections of landscape plants adapted for landscape use in the Southeast. Plants especially adapted to Piedmont North Carolina conditions are collected and evaluated in an effort to find superior plants for use in southern landscapes.
