Anna Patton grew up a military kid, never feeling truly at home until she arrived on NC State’s campus four years ago.
Patton, a senior majoring in psychology, was a founding sister of Delta Delta Delta sorority and is a three-time Alternative Service Break participant. In 2007, she was one of two NC State students named “Leader of the Pack” to honor her outstanding leadership, scholarship and community-service contributions to the university.
“I always felt like I never had a ‘hometown,’ but when I came to NC State, I immediately found that feeling on campus,” Patton said. “Although this can feel like a huge, impersonal institution to a freshman, there are so many people aiming to connect you to campus, so you never have to feel that way.”
In further recognition of her strong leadership skills, Patton has been tabbed a National Residence Hall Honorary, placing her in the top one percent of on-campus leaders.
“I believe NC State’s ability to connect people to the university community sets it apart from other large, land-grant institutions that may struggle in this field.” – Dave Pond
