Alcohol
& Your Student:
Tuesday, October 7, 7:00p.m.
Odds are incoming
college students have already or will experiment with alcohol. Approximately
70% of NC State students had at least one drink in the past year.
About 35% have consumed five or more drinks at one sitting in the
last two weeks. Even for students who do not drink, they certainly
will be exposed to alcohol. This puts young people in a tough situation
as most first-year students are under the legal drinking age of
21.
This Webcast
will explore some of the many issues surrounding the use of alcohol
in our community. From underage drinking to DWI issues, we will
briefly review the statistics so far for the semester and talk candidly
about drinking and its consequences when students are in violation
of university policy.
Topics to
be discussed:
- the basics
of the University Alcohol Policy
- alcohol
issues and expectations in the residence halls
