Rm Position

Rm Collage

Listen to the 2007- 2008 FYC Village Resident Mentors discuss their experiences in this great on-campus leadership position.

In support of the academic mission of NCSU, University Housing and the First Year College (FYC) strive to create a positive and nurturing growth environment for first year students by providing programs, services, facilities, and staff that promote and support student development. The Resident Mentor (RM) plays a key role in providing a comprehensive program that blends the co-curricular with the academic. Resident Mentors are essential in our ability to develop an educational environment in which all residents are assisted in achieving their unique potential. While the Resident Mentor's primary function is to serve as a model of good academic and social behavior, the RM also serves other key functions in the success of our program, such as assisting in the USC 101A/102A classes and planning educational programs to occur in and outside of the halls.

Compensation Package Includes:

  • Live in Tucker or Owen Hall
  • Yearly stipend of $2,000
  • Choose your Roommate (not required to live with an FYC student)
