Jacob K. Javits Fellowship Program

PURPOSE: The Jacob K. Javits program provides fellowships to students of superior academic ability--selected on the basis of demonstrated achievement, financial need, and exceptional promise--to undertake study at the doctoral and Master of Fine Arts level in selected fields of arts, humanities, and social sciences.

ELIGIBILITY: Eligibility is limited to individuals who at the time of application-- (1) will be entering a doctoral program in academic year 2010-2011 and/or who, at the time of application, have not yet completed their first full year of study in the doctoral program for which they are seeking support; (2) will be entering a Master of Fine Arts program in academic year 2010-2011 where the master’s is the terminal highest degree awarded in the selected field of study. Eligibility is limited to U.S. citizens or nationals, permanent residents, or citizens of any one of the Freely Associated States. Applicants must be eligible to be accepted to or currently attending a graduate program leading to a doctorate or a terminal master's degree in an eligible field of study at an institution of higher education approved by an accrediting agency recognized by the Secretary of the Department of Education.
STIPEND: Up to $30,000 per year (depending on financial need)
