Greek Life Staff

The department of Greek Life is seeking application to fill four vacancies in our Chapter Resident Advisor team for the 2014-2015 academic year. See the Chapter Resident Advisor job description (pdf) for more information. Top candidates will be contacted and interviews will be scheduled throughout the spring.

Interim Director of Greek Life


Background: Shelly is a Delta Zeta from Southern Illinois University. Shelly earned her Master's Degree from SIUC and worked at Bowling Green State University coordinating Leadership Programs, Sorority Housing and advising the NPHC for three years before joining the NC State staff in the Fall of 2001 as Associate Director of Greek Life. In July of 2013, she was appointed Interim Director of Greek Life. Shelly spends her weekends traveling to campuses around the country presenting workshops on recruitment, intake, hazing and social justice. She has two girls, Emma and Reese, both active in soccer and dance. She is wrapping up 8 years of service on the Executive Board for the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors and served as the 2012 President.

Assistant Director for Student Involvement


Background: Jermisha serves NC State University as an Assistant Director for Student Involvement. To assist Greek Life through staffing transitions, she has taken on additional responsibilities quarter time. Jermisha, a graduate of UNCW, and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., attended NC State for Graduate School and was the Advisor to the Panhellenic Association during that time.

Background: Mary received her undergraduate degree from Clemson University and earned her Master's Degree from Florida State University before working full-time at Clemson University and the University of Florida. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Mary currently serves as a Graduate Assistant for Multicultural Student Affairs and is taking on additional responsibilities for the spring semester with Greek Life. For summer sessions she will be serving full time.

Background: Mitzi hails from Bronx, New York and moved to Raleigh in 1989. Mitzi graduated from Elizabeth Seton College in Yonkers, NY in 1980 with an Associate in Applied Science. After graduation, Mitzi joined the United States Army where she was employed as an Administrative Clerk. Mitzi served her time overseas in Bad Kreuznach, Germany where she met her husband Michael. Mitzi is the proud mother of three and grandmother of six.

Delta Delta Delta


Background: Alyssa is a member of the Rho Zeta Chapter of Chi Omega. She graduated in 2013 from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Communication, concentrating in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication. During her time at ECU, she served her chapter as the Director for Campus Activities, coordinating participation in Homecoming, Greek Week, and other campus-wide events. She started an all-Greek women?s Bible study, alongside one of her sisters, and led an all-Greek cohort of students for ECU?s Leadership Odyssey program. She also worked as a Writing Consultant for the University Writing Center, an Orientation Assistant for the Office of Student Transitions & First Year Programs, and a Marketing Assistant for Campus Recreation & Wellness. Alyssa is currently pursuing a Master of Education degree in Higher Education Administration at NC State.

Kappa Alpha Order


Background: Shane is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He graduated in 2012 from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. As an undergraduate, he served as President and Treasurer for the National Pan-Hellenic council at UNCC, was the Keeper of Records and Historian for his undergraduate chapter. Shane was also a mentor for The University Transition Opportunities Program (UTOP), which helps facilitate the underrepresented student's transition from high school to college. Now at NC State, Shane is pursuing his Masters Degree in Higher Education Administration.

Background: Natalie is a member of Gamma Eta Sorority, Inc. She graduated in 2013 from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and minors in Educational Studies, Theater, and Family, Youth, and Community Sciences. During her time at UF, she served as the Director of Programming for the Multicultural Greek Council and a Florida Greek Ambassador, the official student ambassadors for Sorority and Fraternity Affairs. She was the Overall Director for her chapter's annual philanthropy, Gamma Eta's Lupus Fashion Show, which raises awareness and funds for the Lupus Foundation of America. She was also involved with Florida Players, UF's student theater company, serving as their Historian and Treasurer. Natalie is currently pursuing a master of education in higher education administration at NC State.

Background: Kiley is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2007 from Elon University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. As an undergraduate, she served as her chapter's House Manager and as Vice President followed by President of Elon's Panhellenic Executive Board. She was also involved in the Honors Fellows Program and the Public Relations Student Society of America. Upon graduation in 2007, Kiley spent a couple of years in Washington, D.C. working for the Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars. She then moved on to New York University where she worked in graduate admissions. Most recently, she worked at her Alma mater in the Office of Alumni Engagement within University Advancement. Now at NC State, Kiley is pursuing her Master of Education in Higher Education Administration and will graduate in May 2014.

Background: Alex graduated from the University of Maine in 2011 with dual Bachelors of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering and Biological Engineering with Spanish and Pre-Medical Studies minors. During his time at UMaine, he was the founding president of Iota Nu Kappa Multicultural Fraternity. He was also actively involved in the Office of Multicultural Programs, UMaine Student Government, and Alternative Spring Break. At NCSU, he is the 2012 recipient of the CALS Dean's Graduate Research Assistantship and is a Masters of Science candidate in the Department of Microbiology.

Background: A Richmond, Virginia native, Dillon is currently working on his master's degree in Higher Education Administration from North Carolina State University. Dillon received his undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of Virginia, where he also served as Team Leader for recruiting and game day operations for the UVa Football Office. Following graduation, Dillon gained experience in higher education fundraising and advancement services at Royall & Company. He also currently serves as a Graduate Assistant in Duke's Dean of Students Office, as an Academic Counselor at North Carolina Central University and as a First-Year Mentor with Duke Athletics.

Alpha Delta Pi

Background: Nicole is originally from Augusta, Georgia and she is currently earning her M.Ed. in Higher Education here at NC State! She graduated from Georgia Tech in 2009 with a B.S. in Public Policy and a minor in Spanish and then went on to complete Teach For America in Houston, TX. In addition to working as a Chapter Resident Advisor, she works in NC State's Office of International Services advising international students and she serves as the Gender Violence Prevention Graduate Assistant at the Duke University Women's Center. In her free time she loves to read, practice yoga, play guitar and paint.

Background: Jule is originally from Cumberland, Virginia. He graduated in 2013 from NC State University's Poole College of Management with a Bachelors of Science in Economics. Prior to becoming a CRA, Jule worked for University Housing with Conference Services. He is a member of the NC State track and field team and his events include the discus, shot put, hammer and weight throw. He also serves as Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative for the track and field program. Jule will be entering the MALS (Masters of Arts in Liberal Studies) program in the fall 2013 semester.

Background: Carrie is a member of Sigma Alpha Omega Sorority. She graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in international business as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. Carrie is currently pursing a Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration. In addition to her role as a CRA she works as a Graduate Assistant at Duke University in their Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and works with Northeast campus housing at NCSU. In her free time she loves craft, cook/bake, and watch funny movies.

Background: Catie graduated from NC State with a Bachelor of Science in both Business Administration and Accounting. She is currently pursing her M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration. Catie is also a graduate assistant with NC State's Student Involvement office where she advises UAB and Student Government committees. In her free time, Catie enjoys pursuing her interest in photography, spending time at the beach, and cheering on NC State.
