Claiming a Room for 2013-2014 is Just Around the Corner
Posted: November 2, 2012

Saturday afternoon tailgates, cooler temperatures, and falling leaves are all signs that the season is changing. At University Housing, the changing season means it’s time to start thinking about our annual Room Sign-up Process. In short, this process ensures your student will have a room in our residence halls or apartments for the next academic year, beginning fall 2013.
Between February 11-27, current spring residents wanting to live on campus for the 2013-2014 academic year must reapply for housing. Residents will have the opportunity to select available rooms and request a roommate(s). The process is online and can be accessed through the University Housing Self Service page via the University MyPack Portal.
The sign-up process has three sections: 1) Wolf Ridge Apartments on Centennial Campus; 2) Wolf Village Apartments; and 3) residence halls. Within each of these sections are separate options and dates from which students can choose based on their situation. For example, Wolf Ridge sign-up has three options: group of four; group of three; and group of two or individual. Each student should identify his/her “option” and sign-up on the appropriate date. Other option examples include returning to the same room; returning to the same building; residing in a different building; and more. Beginning in early December, University Housing will post detailed information about the process on its website. In addition, parents will receive the same information in the January issue of the Wolf’s Den.
So, why are we telling you about this process now? The holidays are just around the corner, and they are a great time for parents and students to discuss living plans for the upcoming year. Parents are encouraged to talk to their sons and daughters about their plans to avoid a last-minute decision once the application process begins. Parents should consider the benefits of living on campus, such as higher GPAs and graduation rates, and students should consider the level of engagement and resources that on-campus housing provides. For those students looking for the apartment experience, Wolf Ridge, Wolf Village, ES King Village, and Western Manor are often a happy medium for parents and students and provide a variety of options, styles, and layouts.
We encourage you to talk with your student over the holidays about their intentions. Remember, the annual room sign-up process is easy, but failing to complete it may result in your student not having a place to live on campus! Start the conversation and join the more than 4,000 students who sign-up each year.
