Wolf Ridge at Centennial after One-Year of Construction
Posted: November 6, 2012

Wolf Ridge construction as of late October.
Less than a month from the one year groundbreaking anniversary of Wolf Ridge at Centennial, University Housing’s Centennial campus apartment project is moving along at a rapid pace. As of late October, Tower and Lakeview halls had topped out, meaning the steel and concrete block is constructed to the top of the buildings. These two structures have reached their final height. The structure of the third building known as Plaza Hall is also nearly complete. “We are moving along as planned, and it’s exciting to see this project really start to take shape,” said Facilities Manager Pete Fraccaroli. During the next 30 days, crews will begin to lay the brick veneer on the outside of the buildings and begin roofing activities.
While it’s obvious from the outside that the project is making headway, what’s not visible is how each building is starting to take shape on the inside. Metal wall framing, or the interior walls between bedrooms and bathrooms, is being constructed in Tower and Lakeview halls. In addition to framing the walls, crews are working to finalize electric, plumbing, and HVAC systems in the halls. Overall, the project is on track, and it’s exciting to see the progress.
Students are showing increased interest in the Centennial housing development. The Model Apartment has been open for over a month now, and many students have taken the apartment tour. The model is a replica of the more popular four-bedroom unit which will be available fall 2013. “Overall, the feedback has been quite positive,” said Tim Blair, Associate Director for University Apartments. “Students like the dark cabinetry and the large window in the living room, and they are excited about the dishwasher,” Blair added. Students that visit the model are asked to provide feedback on the furniture and appliances. This feedback will shape the final furniture and décor decisions.
Students and parents will also be excited to learn that the University dining facility located in Tower Hall has released its official name. The new facility will be named On the Oval. From soups and salads, to brick-fired pizzas, to fresh sushi – On the Oval will provide a variety of dining options for students, faculty, and staff.
The construction at Wolf Ridge at Centennial will continue to move forward with an opening date set for fall 2013. Remember, if your son or daughter wants to live in Tower or Lakeview halls, he/she will need to start planning now! Registration for Wolf Ridge will begin in February during the annual Housing Selection process.
