About IEI

Who we are

The Institute for Emerging Issues (IEI) is a public policy, think-and-do tank that convenes leaders from business, non profit organizations, government and higher education to tackle some of the biggest issues facing North Carolina's future growth and prosperity.

Through research, ideas, debate and action, we prepare leaders to address North Carolina's future challenges and opportunities. North Carolina has long been a model state in the Southeast, with a legacy of forward-thinking leadership and effective collaboration. IEI seeks to mirror and encourage these values, serving as the premiere, university-based public policy organization.

Our Mission

Institute for Emerging Issues (IEI) is dedicated to creating an enduring capacity for renewed innovation in North Carolina that can withstand the external pressures of a rapidly changing national and international environment. IEI seeks to foster an atmosphere of enhanced civic engagement, cooperative leadership and enlightened problem-solving in the areas of education, health, tax and finance, energy and the environment, and economic development.

Where

Housed on North Carolina State University' s Centennial Campus, IEI serves the people of North Carolina - challenging state leaders to anticipate future challenges and supporting their response with incisive solutions that benefit all 100 counties across the state.
