2006 Emerging Issues Forum -- February 6 & 7
In February 2006, at the 21st Annual Emerging Issues Forum, IEI brought leaders from around the state, country and even the world to share and debate the best ideas available for changing the way our tax and finance system works.
The annual Emerging Issues Forum attracted nearly 1,000 corporate chiefs, investors, university presidents, legislators, journalists, scientists, educators and students from around North Carolina, the Southeast region and the nation. Notables such as Paul O’Neill, Paul Krugman and Steve Forbes highlighted the need for a tax system that is competitive, stable, adequate and fair.
Participants learned about the serious challenges created by the current mechanisms used to collect revenue in North Carolina, the need to reform the state’s tax system to remain competitive, and options for change developed by IEI Working Groups to secure our financial future.
