Changing Landscapes: Building the Good Growth State?

Business Committee on Energy

IEI convened a Business Committee on Energy to discuss and debate the outlook for North Carolina’s new energy economy. IEI gathered this group of high-level executives in an effort to:

Educate the business community about the state’s dramatically different energy future;

Examine the institutional framework used when making decisions about the state's energy future; and

Provide leadership by examining whether the state's leaders and institutions are well organized to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Specific action steps will be identified and fed into the policymaking process at the state legislature, with a view to meaningful institutional reform in the 2009 legislative session. With rising energy prices and newly elected government leaders in office, now is the time to call for leadership on this crucial issue.
