Changing Landscapes: Building the Good Growth State?

Understanding North Carolina's Changing Landscapes

Our state is changing. We are growing at an unprecedented rate, with our population expected to reach 13 million people by 2030.  As a result, our water, sewer, transportation and school systems are under tremendous strain.

North Carolina’s vision for its future must evolve to meet the state’s new and pressing needs while still maintaining its unique identity. The opportunity lies in preserving the high quality of life for those North Carolinians who have been here for generations while simultaneously doing the same for those newly settled North Carolinians who may have different views as to what constitutes a high quality of life.

As this new vision for North Carolina begins to take shape, an understanding of the deep connections and commonalities that exist among the issues will be critical.  We must also recognize that the information and experience required to address them will be found among leadership at all levels and in all sectors.
