NC State has licensed Lift, a suite of tools from Usablenet.com. These tools that can help web developers automate website accessibility and usability testing and enhance their ability to easily and quickly create, retrofit and delivery section 508/W3C compliant web content.
Lift - Desktop Solution
LIFT Desktop Solution works within Macromedia Dreamweaver and Microsoft FrontPage applications. The program does not require the content creators to have in-depth knowledge of accessibility issues or HTML code. The step-by-step Fix Wizard tool and the ALT editor can assist the web developer create and retrofit their content to meet the guidelines. The University has a site license for these tools and they are available for use by university faculty, staff and students.
Lift Machine- Server Solution
LIFT Machine is a server side tool that evaluates and reports on static and dynamic web pages and sites. NC State has limited licenses for this product and access to it is limited to web masters and others who evaluate, monitor, manage and/or support extensive web content for their college or unit. Lift - Lift Assistive (TextTranscoder)
Lift Assistive is a server-based tool that dynamically parses the content of a web page into a "Text Only" page, eliminating the need to maintain dual pages. During the conversion process all formatting, visual layout elements, images and JavaScripting etc. are removed. The tool is available to all faculty, staff and students at NC State.
