Red Means Go

For NC State fans, the action wasn't just on the field during last week's football game against South Carolina. TV viewers got their first look at the university's new commercial spot, which aired during the halftime show.

The TV ad is one of the key components of a new awareness campaign that promotes NC State as a high-energy leader in producing graduates ready to make an impact on society and in the workplace, innovative research targeted towards the world's most pressing issues, and economic development efforts in North Carolina and beyond.

The comprehensive awareness campaign begins this fall, featuring new TV, radio, print and online ads, a targeted public relations and media relations campaign and events and other general outreach. The campaign's messages will reinforce the reality that NC State is a university that hits the ground running and changes the world.

"While our campus environment is changing and growing, NC State's commitment to excellence, innovation and a spirit of collaboration remains strong," Chancellor James Oblinger said. "The new awareness campaign will highlight NC State's determined, eager and tenacious approach."

"This is the first campaign of its kind for NC State," he said. "We have many great stories to tell, and this campaign will help us tell them in a bold, confident, poised and compelling manner."

The goal is to motivate parents, prospective students and donors to consider and select NC State as their university of choice, while reminding the entire NC State community – including current students, faculty, staff and alumni – that they have many reasons to be proud of their affiliation with NC State.

The campaign does not use any appropriated funds and is based on market research that indicated the benefit of "hands-on learning opportunities [found at NC State] that can be used in the real world" was essential to parents and students and helps differentiates NC State from peer universities.
