Chinese Culture
Series Course
:
This course is a series of lectures or seminars, introducing a variety of topics concerning Chinese culture: such as Chinese Survey; Highlights of Chinese History; Overview of Chinese Philosophy and Chinese Religion; General topics related to contemporary Chinese society and the current political system; Popular Chinese customs; China's economic development; Highlights of education in China as it relates to history and tradition; Travel in China; Chinese food and cooking, Chinese art and music, etc. This course is ideal for those who are interested in learning more about China or who need to know more because they are engaged in professional or academic projects with China . Fun activities have also been integrated into this course, and students have the opportunity to learn basic language expressions and idioms.
Tai Chi Class:
Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese health exercise. It is a sequence of gestures and movements that are gentle and fluid yet have profound power. It is a form of energy cultivation and an internal martial art. The Tai Chi class offered by Confucius Institute in Fall 2008 will start on August 28. It meets every Thursdays from 5:30 - 6:30 pm on Court of Carolina (the green field between Caldwell Hall & Poe Hall at NC State); Indoor (inclement conditions) Caldwell Building, Caldwell Lounge (main level).
