Beginning Chinese for Adults ( 1 )
Designed for adults without any Chinese language background, this non-credit seminar will introduce you to Pinyin, the basic Mandarin phonetic system. You will learn and practice frequently used Chinese expressions and every-day words, while emphasizing oral and listening skills. Basic Chinese grammar and character writing system will also be introduced.
Beginning Chinese for Adults ( 2 )
This non-credit course is the second phase of elementary Chinese course designed for those who have completed beginning Chinese (I), or those who have taken Chinese language course before, learned Pinyin, and grasped several hundred Chinese words and some basic conversation sentences. The skill of using Pinyin to read Chinese sentences will be further trained; more Chinese characters and grammar points will be introduced, the skill of listening, speaking, reading and writing will be integrated and enhanced, some cultural aspects of Chinese language will also be introduced. The objective of this course is to help the students to keep their continuing interest in learning the language and using the language to handle more various and complex topics and situations.
Chinese Conversation I & II:
The Confucius Institute is cooperating with NC State's Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (DFLL) to provide additional credits in Chinese language courses for NCSU students. The Confucius Institute instructor cooperates with the faculty of DFLL to teach extra sessions for the first and second year Chinese language students. With this new opportunity, we can integrate more listening and speaking into the Chinese language courses, and emphasize more on language practice while introducing more of the cultural background of the language.
