OIS sponsors numerous unique and exciting programs designed to foster cross-cultural exchange within the campus and Triangle communities. International students, scholars, family members, American students, NC State faculty and staff, and community members are encouraged to participate. The benefits of these programs extend to all who take part.
For NC State’s international community, each program provides an additional way to interact with Americans outside of the classroom and learn firsthand about American culture. Together, they promote a more fulfilling experience at NC State University. Whether you enjoy volunteer work, would like to share your own culture through presentations and performances, want the opportunity to practice English with native speakers or simply want continued interaction with the campus and Raleigh communities, we have a program for you!
Through involvement, American participants will learn about other cultures and assist students and scholars, through friendship, in their transition to the United States. The international community represents a wide range of countries and cultures and combines to bring the world to NC State. At OIS, our programs range in time commitment so we have a program to fit any availability. From one time meal hosting through our Breaking Bread program to weekly volunteering at English Conversation Club, we have something for everyone!
Feel free to browse through the program links on this page and discover the many ways that you can get involved!
