Raleigh is consistently ranked as one of the top places to live and work and offers a plethora of activities for you to enjoy.  If you wish to explore the city, here is some additional information for you.

Dining: There are a number of dining options conveniently located in close proximity to Open House activities such as Hillsborough Street, Mission Valley, Cameron Village, Western Boulevard and downtown Raleigh.

Shopping: For those interested in purchasing official NC State University merchandise, the University Bookstore will be open during Open House.  If you want to extend your shopping experience, there are also several unique shops along Hillsborough Street and in nearby Cameron Village Shopping Center (both of which are either within walking distance or a very short drive from main campus). Additionally two large malls are within 5 miles of campus: Cary Town Center and Crabtree Valley both offering additional shopping and dining options.

Additional Suggestions:
The North Carolina State Fair is the largest event in North Carolina.  The 2013 NC State Fair is being held from October 17th through October 27th. Since you will already be in Raleigh for NC State’s Open House, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in the fun at the North Carolina State Fair.  The State Fair hosts diverse musical acts, food vendors, games, carnival rides, as well as commercial and agricultural exhibitors.
