Plant Varieties at NC StateNC State would like to officially recognize our plant breeders who are encouraging competitive science and crop improvement by their continued research efforts. These efforts often result in genetic enhancements and new plant varieties.There are many steps involved in protecting and licensing a new plant variety. NC State's Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) works in partnership with the plant breeder, the Breeders Release Board, North Carolina Agricultural Research Service (NCARS), North Carolina Foundation Seed Producers (NCFSP), and patent attorneys to protect the discovery and introduce the cultivar to growers, nurseries and seed companies.
