Suggested Resources for Educators
Alternative Licensure (Lateral Entry) — ced.ncsu.edu/teachered/alternative_teaching.html
The number of graduates in traditional programs of teacher-education does
not meet the demand of today's schools. To help remedy this problem, the
NC State Board of Education has developed ways for people with degrees
in areas other than education to make the transition into teaching. Those
of you who wish to become teachers should contact your local school system.
Test requirements must be met, and course requirements must be completed
within five years. Our office for Lateral Entry Programs can assist you
with your transcript review and a plan of courses to work toward licensure.
