Learning Technologies Services and Activities
Learning Technologies sponsors technology workshops, consults on individual projects, makes presentations to individual classes, and teaches courses on current technology and its use and implications in education by both students and teachers.
Learning Technologies is also a place where faculty, students, and staff can go for hands-on instruction on using presentation, multimedia, and graphics packages more effectively. Its computers are available for students, faculty, and staff use for experimenting with this software.
The staff also play an important part in helping the College meet the state set technology competencies for pre-service teachers and the College's faculty. The coordinator is a liaison with NCDPI and attends the cross-UNC system meetings on the technology competencies.
Teaching
Teaching efforts include regularly scheduled semester courses as well as short courses, week-long workshops, and guest lectures in the college's courses.
In-house consulting
The director consults with college faculty, staff, and students on projects involving information technology and actively participates in these projects as necessary and feasible.
College webpages
The director serves on the college's World-Wide Web Production Board and coordinates the college's web activities. Although Learning Technologies does not have the staff to create and maintain webpages for all the college's and departments' webpages, it can assist individual departments, faculty, and staff as they working with their webpages.
Hardware & software support
When possible, Learning Technologies assists faculty, staff, and students in their use of information technology, especially Internet resources and tools.
