About NC State's Academic Calendar

The Registration & Records & Calendar Committee is a University Standing Committee charged with providing advice and recommendations to the University Registrar regarding the university calendar, and other registration and records procedures. The committee typically meets once or twice per semester.
A new 3-year academic calendar is recommended to the Chancellor and published online each year. The Registration & Records & Calendar Committee meets to discuss necessary updates, and any changes are presented to the University Registrar prior to submission to the Chancellor for approval. When considering future calendars, the committee relies on several sources, including but not limited to: feedback from the campus community, requests from student government, and annual reading days surveys.
The committee strives to incorporate valid requests in its calendar decisions whenever possible, while also adhering to the university community's calendar conventions, and calendar regulations set forth by the General Administration of the UNC System.
