Faculty Resources
North Carolina State University provides a variety of resources in support of faculty research, many of them centralized in the offices of Sponsored Programs and Regulatory Compliance Services (SPARCS) and Technology Transfer (OTT). SPARCS provides services to facilitate the submission of proposals, negotiation of agreements, and administration of funded projects. It also fosters compliance with regulations governing research subjects and substances. OTT helps promote the transfer of academic discovery to industry for public benefit and economic development.

Birds of a feather?
Dr. Mary Schweitzer, assistant professor of paleontology at NC State, along with colleagues at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center have confirmed the existence of protein in soft tissue recovered from the bone of a 68 million-year-old T. rex. The research provides a connection between the extinct giants and living birds, especially ostriches and emus, and may present a new method for studying diseases like cancer.
