"Mail" is MacOS X's built-in mail application. These instructions are for Mail that is shipped with OS 10.4.

Create a New Account

When you launch Mail for the first time, or when you are adding a new account, you will see the New Account Window.

Set the Account type to "IMAP".

Account Description can be whatever you wish. It's a label that Mail uses to identify the account. It has no bearing on your mail.

Enter your name, then your email address, then click Continue.

Incoming Mail Server

Enter your incoming mail server and your Unity user ID.

You may enter your password if you wish. This will have Mail remember your password so you don't have to enter it later when checking mail. Click Continue. Mail will attempt a connection to the mail server to check the validity of the server and ID.

Outgoing Mail Server

If you are a ResNet subscriber and live on-campus, use the following SMTP server information.

On campus users that are NOT ResNet subscribers should use the following SMTP server information.

All off campus users can check HERE for their SMTP server.

Verify your Information

After you've entered all of your information, you will see a verification screen where you can verify that your information is correct.

Once you have verified your information, you will see the following screen. If you have used another program to check your mail, then you'll want to Import mailboxes and follow the instructions. Otherwise, Click Done, and you're ready to go.
