Responding to Pings with Windows Firewall


This section will explain how to enable your computer to respond to pings with Windows Firewall.  To see additional information, go back to the Main Windows Firewall page.

1 Click on your Start Menu, then click Control Panel (note: if you do not see Control Panel as an option in your start menu, look for Settings, then click Control Panel)

2 Now click Security Center in the window that appeared

3 Now click Windows Firewall, appearing beneath 'Manage security settings for'

4 Click on the Advanced tab.

Advanced Properties

Click on Settings... under the ICMP header.
 

5 Check the Box for "Allow Incoming Echo Requests". Click OK and your machine should now respond to pings.
