North Carolina State University’s student publications have been serving the campus and surrounding community for more than 100 years. The University is situated in the heart of Raleigh, the capital city of North Carolina, and is near the communities of Cary, Durham and Chapel Hill. The surrounding area is home to 1.2 million people out of North Carolina’s approximately 8 million residents.
N.C. State is the largest university in the state, home to nearly 30,000 students, and is the second largest employer in Wake County, employing almost 7,000 faculty and staff members. The majority of students at NCSU are in-state students (26,012) but we also have 2,364 out-of-state students, representing all 50 states, and 1,581 international students from more than 100 nations.
Each of the media are run exclusively by students. The Technician is funded almost solely through advertising monies. WKNC, Agromeck and the Nubian Message are funded through sponsorships and advertising monies but also receive a significant amount of student fee money.

Technician
The Technician, North Carolina State University’s student-run newspaper, has been serving the campus community since 1920. It employs more than 100 students throughout the year and is instrumental in providing students, faculty, staff and alumni with campus news, sports, entertainment, as well as state and national news. The Technician is published Monday through Friday when school is in session and it has many strategically-located distribution sites on main, Centennial and the College of Veterinary Medicine campuses. It also is delivered to surrounding area merchants and restaurants for a wide reader base.

WKNC 88.1 FM
WKNC 88.1 FM is a student-run, non-commercial radio station. Established in 1922, N.C. State student radio provides exciting programming to devoted listeners throughout the greater Triangle area. Boasting 25,000 watts of intense broadcasting, WKNC reaches a vast local, regional and international audience with online MP3 and OGG streaming technologies.
WKNC prides itself in offering unique and adventurous programming. The daily indie rock format during the week, coupled with electronica, hip hop and heavy metal allows for a diverse and satisfied audience. Weekend specialty shows reach niche audiences for local music, punk, a capella, industrial, R&B, South Asian, Americana and Latin-influenced music. WKNC serves its listening community with an up-to-date concert calendar, daily N.C. State news, campus and community announcements, ticket giveaways and sponsored concerts.

Agromeck
N.C. State’s oldest student publication, the Agromeck yearbook, celebrated its 100th birthday with the 2002 edition. A spring delivery yearbook, the Agromeck documents the lives of the 30,000-plus students, faculty and staff on the campus, covering everything from football games and pep rallies to fraternity and sorority events and classroom activities. The Agromeck produces a book what will not only be useful in a year but useful in 20 or 30 years to help people know what life at N.C. State was like.

The Nubian Message
The Nubian Message is a weekly publication that provides informative and innovative articles about and for African-American and other students at N.C. State with feature stories ranging from news to editorials about issues concerning the community. It is an 11” x 17” tabloid with a print area of 10” x 16” printed on newsprint with spot color and black.
Deadline for ad placement is 4 p.m. one week in advance. Cancellation of an ad must be made by 4 p.m. three working days in advance.
