SPECIAL MEETING

CALL TO ORDER — This special meeting has been called for the sole purpose of hiring senior leaders for the 2011 – 2012 academic year.

• MEMBERS PRESENT: Paul McCauley, Henry Allen, Michael Biesecker, Jim Rothschild, Dean Phillips, Kristen Paese, John Bullard, Susannah Brinkley, Mario Terry, Amanda Wilkins, Mollie Mohr, Thomas Anderson, Andrea Mason, Bradley Wilson
• OTHERS PRESENT: Laura Wilkinson, Emerson Barker, Cordera (C.J.) Guion, Alanna Howard, Krystal Pittman, Tyler Dukes, Jamie Lynn Gilbert
• ABSENT: Dao Xuan Nguyen, Stephanie Edwards, Kelly Hook

NEW BUSINESS

• Top Leaders Appointment Policy amendment (Tommy Anderson, Jamie Lynn Gilbert) CLICK HERE to see suggested revisions. Approved unanimously.
• Hiring of editor for Agromeck — Candidate: Stephanie Doss. The Board unanimously approved the motion made by Mollie Mohr to hire Stephanie Doss as editor.
• Hiring of editor for Technician — Candidates: Chelsey Francis, Emerson Barker, Laura Wilkinson and Dan Eckert. The Board approved the recommendation by the advisory board in a motion made by Paul McCauley to hire Laura Wilkinson as editor, requiring her to resign her position as a University ambassador effective when her term in office takes effect. Mike Biesecker said this was a conflict of interest. Laura had no objections. Laura stated she has plans to study abroad part of the summer. In accordance with Student Media policy, the position of summer editor would be posted effective immediately for the Board to hire a summer editor at the April meeting.
• Hiring of editor for Nubian Message — Candidates: Cordera Guion, Jasmine Chadmon. The Board unanimously approved the advisory board recommendation made by Paul McCauley to hire Cordera (C.J.) Guion.
• Hiring of general manager for WKNC 88.1 fm — Candidate: Molly Matty. The Board unanimously approved the recommendation of the advisory board made by Tommy Anderson to hire Molly Matty as the general manager.
• Hiring of editor for Windhover — Candidates: Alanna Howard and Javan Sutton. The Board unanimously approved the recommendation of the advisory board in a motion made by Susannah Brinkley to hire Alanna Howard with two following recommendations: that Alanna consider hiring Javan as a designer and that Alanna shadow the current editor for the remainder of the spring.

ADJOURN
EXECUTIVE SESSION
The Student Media Board of Directors may adjourn into executive session to discuss matters of litigation, potential litigation or personnel.

QUORUM DEFINED — A majority of the voting members present shall constitute a quorum. Of those voting members present, a majority must be student members who are eligible to vote.
