Technician staffers win SCJ awards
The Society for Collegiate Journalists confirmed winners for the 2008 contest, although some winners were announced at it’s biennial convention held March 13 – 15 at Barton College in Wilson, N.C. Four NCSU students were among the students recognized.

Designer/photographer named finalists in national competition
The Associated Collegiate Press announced that a Technician designer and a Student Media photographer were finalists in the ACP 2007 individual competitions. In addition, Windhover, the literary and arts magazine, was named a finalist in the national Pacemaker competition.

Technician receives Silver Crown; Agromeck staffers receive national recognition
Technician
N.C. State’s daily student newspaper, the Technician, received a Silver Crown, the second highest national award, from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association at the CSPA convention March 17.
“This award indicates that your publication ranks among the best in student journalism,” said Edmund Sullivan, executive director of CSPA.

‘Post’ writer helps students improve writing skills
“He’s been a wonderful addition to our first week of production,” said Rebecca Heslin, Technician editor. “He’s helped the staff hammer out some common problems as well as some things we hadn’t thought about. He rocks.”

Newspaper designers finalists for national award
The Associated Collegiate Press announced that two Technician designers were finalists in the 2005 ACP Design of the Year competition co-sponsored by Adobe Systems.
Thushan Amarasiriwardena served as Technician co-editor during the 2003-2004 academic year and now is a content producer for Boston.com/The Boston Globe.
Patrick Clarke is now the managing editor of the Technician.

N.C. State Student Media Win National Awards
DALLAS — The Associated Collegiate Press and College Media Advisers announced at their convention in Dallas, Nov. 5-9 that two student media from North Carolina State University won national awards.
