Step 1: Export

A new window will open called publish_to_web. This is your final product and contains everything you need for the web. Rename it something without spaces or periods that says something about the event. Tip: include the year because chances are if whatever you covered has not already happened it will happen again next year.

Step 2: Upload
Open Cyberduck.app- Double-click on the files.wknc.org bookmark.
- Drag your newly named folder to files.wknc.org.
Step 3: Publish
- Open Firefox. It’s absolutely obnoxious, but a few of the necessary features of collegepublisher’s admin site are broken for the most standards compliant rendering engine on earth: WebKit. This effects both Apple Safari and Google Chrome (if you’re cool enough to use them).
- Log-in to admin.collegepublisher.com (talk to the editor or Fred if you don’t have a log-in)
Publishing one slideshow requires creating three articles:
- The article page that everything else links to and has the slideshow embedded on it.
- The teaser on the Home page.
- The teaser on the Multimedia page.
Step 3a: Article Page
- Click on the Multimedia folder (
) - From the tabs near the top click on Articles

- Click Create to create a new standard article.

- Write your Title, subtitle, byline, and summary.

- Here’s the fun part:
- Scroll down and click on Source

- Paste this HTML code in:
- Change publish_to_web to your folder name all 3 times
- Click Save and check to see if your slideshow plays and the fallback link works.
- Scroll down and click on Source
- Now attach an image: (you can do this while not in edit mode)
- Click Create new image

- Browse and Upload a small version of an iconic image from your slideshow (look in your publish_to_web folder for already resized copies)
- Now write a name, paste in your caption, and enter ©2009 NCSU Student Media for copyright.
- Click Create new image
- Click copy at the top next to the article’s name.

- Do not close your new article.
Step 3b: Multimedia Teaser
- Click on the Multimedia folder (
) - Open Multimedia Column Splitter (Top)

- Create a new teaser

- Paste in the same Title, Subtitle, and Description from the article.
- Paste in your article using the paste button. This links this teaser to your main article.

- Copy the image: click on your article page from before (that you didn’t close).
- Use the paste button (under the Create new image button) to paste the same image into the teaser.
- Save and close this teaser.
Step 3c: Home page teaser
- Click on the News folder (
) - Open News Column Splitter
- Create a new teaser

- Do the same thing you just did:
- Paste in the same Title, Subtitle, and Description from the article.
- Paste in both the article and image using the paste button just like before.
- Save and close everything.
Step 3d: Check it out
Go to technicianonline.com and make sure everything is hunky-dory.
