Any college or university (2-year or 4-year) or military installation may be represented at the National Basketball Championships under the following guidelines:
Team Eligibility:
- All players must attend the same institution from any two (2) year or four (4) year degree-granting college or university
- No women are allowed to compete on a men’s team and no men are allowed to compete on a women’s team
- Teams may be Intramural teams (champions, all star teams, etc.) or a Club team (as long as all members meet individual player eligibility requirements)
- Faculty/Staff members are allowed to compete for that institution if that institution's Intramural Program policies permit such action in the course of operating their programs on campus. Teams will be limited to a maximum of two (2) faculty/staff members per team.
- Teams representing military installations are also eligible to compete, with all members of these teams consisting of persons that are assigned to that respective military installation
Player Eligibility
- Undergraduate Students – Must be enrolled students with a minimum of ½ full-time enrollment. (Registrar is responsible to verify)
- Note: If a player is a graduating senior, and taking less than the required hours to fulfill their graduation requirements, submit a letter from the registrar along with the registration materials stating that the player will be graduating the same term as the event
- Graduate Students – Must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) hours. (Registrar is responsible to verify)
- Faculty / staff – must be full-time employees of the institution. (Registrar is responsible to verify)
- A player can never have been declared a professional player in the same activity. (Intramural Director is responsible to verify)
- A participant at a 2-year or 4-year college may not be a current member of a Varsity basketball team or be listed on the roster of a varsity basketball team during the 2008-2009 academic year. (Intramural Director is responsible to verify)
