Crime Victim Rights

Victims and Witnesses are entitled to numerous rights under the NC General Statutes. Some of those rights include being notified of available resources for immediate medical treatment, being provided information about plea bargains prior to the plea bargain, being notified about court hearing dates and arrests, having the right to present a victim impact statement and having the right to be notified about a perpetrator's release from custody with certain levels of crime.

In addition, there is a separate Law which deals with compensation for actual damages that result from certain crimes.
