NC State is operating on its regular schedule beginning at 8 a.m. today, Sept. 18.

NC State Resuming Normal Operations at 8 a.m. Tuesday
NC State university will resume normal operations and its regular class schedule beginning 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18. All Monday classes are cancelled.
The university will continue to operate under Reduced Operations (Condition 1 of the UNC System Adverse Weather Policy) until 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Residence halls, university apartments, Greek houses and dining facilities remain open for students. The D.H. Hill and Hunt Libraries are open on regular schedules.
Students who cannot return to class Tuesday should contact their professors as soon as possible. Students who feel they need additional assistance regarding courses or their return, or those who have other questions about attendance, should call the Wolfpack Response Line at 919-512-3272.
All members of the NC State community are strongly encouraged to carefully review up-to-date weather and road conditions and make well-informed, safe choices about travel.

NC State Resuming Normal Class Schedule, Normal Operations 8 a.m. Tuesday
NC State will resume normal operations and its regular class schedule beginning 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18. The university will continue to operate under Reduced Operations (Condition 1 of the UNC System Adverse Weather Policy) until 8 a.m. Tuesday. All Monday classes are cancelled.
University officials will continue to monitor the situation and update the campus community, if necessary, with any changes.
Residence halls, university apartments, Greek houses and dining facilities remain open for students.
The D.H. Hill and Hunt Libraries are open on regular schedules. Some services such as library dining facilities and Makerspaces will not operate on a regular schedule Sunday, Sept. 16. Requests from the Hunt Library bookBot will be available Monday, Sept. 17. The Design, Natural Resources and Veterinary Medicine libraries are closed and plan to reopen on a regular schedule Monday, Sept. 17. For more information, visit the NCSU Libraries website.

NC State to Resume Normal Class Schedule Tuesday, Move to Reduced Operations Sunday
NC State will move to Reduced Operations (Condition 1 of the UNC System Adverse Weather Policy) for university employees beginning at 8 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16. Additional information about the policy can be found at go.ncsu.edu/adverseweather.
To allow time for students who traveled away from the Raleigh area before the storm to return to campus, the university will resume its normal class schedule beginning 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18. All Monday classes are cancelled.
University officials will continue to monitor the situation and update the campus community with any changes.
University emergency management officials have remained in close communication with city and county emergency management as well as the National Weather Service to continually evaluate Hurricane Florence’s effects. Fortunately, the storm has not had significant impacts to campus. Residence halls, university apartments, Greek houses and dining facilities remain open for students.
In recognition that some students may not be able to safely return to campus by Tuesday, university leadership has asked faculty to be considerate of students' individual situations and appropriately flexible regarding class attendance and makeup work.

Hurricane Florence made landfall on the North Carolina coast this morning. Wake County and surrounding areas are now under a Tropical Storm Warning and a Tornado Watch. While Florence is currently anticipated to head southward, it is expected to bring heavy rain, wind, flooding and widespread power outages to the Raleigh area.
North Carolina Emergency Management officials are urging citizens across the state to remain very cautious. North Carolina will experience severe, widespread impacts.

Hurricane Florence Update: Community Urged to Remain Vigilant
There have been no changes in university status. There are no classes Thursday, Sept.13 or Friday, Sept. 14. The university remains in Suspended Operations, Condition 2 of the UNC System Adverse Weather Policy, until 5 p.m. Sunday.

Hurricane Florence has been downgraded to Category 2 and is currently taking a more southern track than initially expected. However, North Carolina Emergency Management officials are urging citizens across the state to remain very cautious. North Carolina will experience severe, widespread impacts.
The Raleigh area is expecting high winds, heavy rains, flooding and power outages beginning as early as Thursday evening and persisting through much of the weekend.

Tuesday, September 11, 2018 -- 1:30 p.m.
Classes cancelled after noon on Wednesday
Based on updated Hurricane Florence forecasts and projected impacts, and to ensure students who choose to travel have adequate time to do so ahead of significant adverse weather conditions, NC State is moving to Reduced Operations (Condition 1 of the UNC System Adverse Weather Policy) and additionally cancelling classes beginning noon on Wednesday, Sept. 12.
All classes that begin after noon on Wednesday will be cancelled, and there will be no classes on Thursday or Friday. For faculty and staff, Condition 1 will be in effect from noon until 5 p.m. Wednesday, moving then to Condition 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16.
University officials will continue to monitor the situation and update the campus community with any changes.
Under Condition 1, employees should take reasonable precautions for personal safety. Mandatory employees must report to or remain at work. Non-mandatory employees should make a good faith effort to remain at or report to work taking reasonable precautions and judgments for personal safety. Those who do not work must use leave (comp, annual, bonus or special bonus leave) or make up time based on departmental need. Non-mandatory employees may also arrange for alternative work locations if approved to do so.
Under Condition 2, all non-mandatory operations are suspended and non-mandatory employees should not report to work until the university resumes normal operations. Non-mandatory employees must use leave (comp, annual or bonus) for this time. Employees not working may also make up time (within 90 days) based on departmental need or arrange for alternative work locations if approved to do so.

NC State Classes, Normal Operations to be Suspended beginning 5 p.m. Wednesday
Due to the anticipated and potential effects of Hurricane Florence to the Raleigh area, NC State will suspend normal operations (Condition 2 of the UNC System adverse weather policy) beginning at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, lasting through 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16. There will be no classes after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, and no classes Thursday or Friday of this week.
Normal operations are anticipated to begin at 5 p.m. Sunday. Regular class schedules are planned to resume Monday morning. University officials will continue to monitor the situation and update the campus community with any changes.
All university residence halls, Greek Court and on-campus apartments will be open, and university dining facilities are planned to remain open (unless safety becomes an issue), throughout the duration of the storm.
Under Condition 2, all non-mandatory operations are suspended and non-mandatory employees should not report to work until the university resumes normal operations. Non-mandatory employees must use leave (comp, annual or bonus) for this time. Employees not working may also make up time (within 90 days) based on departmental need or arrange for alternative work locations if approved to do so. The NC State community is encouraged to review weather and road conditions to make well-informed, safe choices about travel. Any students choosing to travel home outside of the area are highly encouraged to do so before strong winds are expected to begin in Raleigh on Wednesday night.
